Why I Don’t Follow Fashion Trends (And You Don’t Have To Either)

Fashion trends come and go faster than ever. One season it’s all about oversized everything, the next it’s minimalist chic. Trying to keep up? Exhausting. Expensive. And honestly? Unfulfilling.

Here’s the truth: I don’t follow fashion trends. Not because I’m anti-fashion, but because I’m pro-style.

Style > Trends

Style is personal. It’s a reflection of who you are, not what everyone else is doing. Trends, on the other hand, often push us toward what’s "in" instead of what actually suits our bodies, lifestyles, and preferences. I believe your wardrobe should work for you, not the other way around.

Why I Skip the Trend Cycle:

1. Trends Aren’t One-Size-Fits-All: What’s popular isn’t always what’s flattering. I focus on what fits my frame, feels good to wear, and aligns with my personality.

2. Trends Create Clutter: Chasing every trend usually leads to a closet full of impulse buys you rarely wear. I prefer building a versatile wardrobe with pieces I love season after season.

3. Confidence Over Conformity: When you wear what makes you feel good, your confidence shows. I’d rather wear something timeless that I love than something trendy that doesn’t feel like me.

• Know your fit: Focus on silhouettes and fabrics that flatter your body.

• Edit regularly: Keep what works. Let go of what doesn’t.

You don’t need to follow fashion trends to be stylish. In fact, the most stylish women I know are the ones who dress with intention, not imitation.
