How to Prepare for your next Branding Shoot with Ease

I'm sure there are a ton of thoughts and ideas that come to your mind when you're preparing for a branding shoot for the first time. As your Personal Brand Stylist, I'm normally the one curating everything from the looks, the team, the props and sometimes the location. But there are also a few things that you, the client, should bring to the table as well.

Don't worry; it's not much. But will definitely make a difference!

Your "Why"

It's important to know what you want. If you don't know, at least have an idea. Visuals always help. Create a pinterest board full of images and ideas that help to bring your vision to life. It makes the process a lot harder when you aren't sure what you want out of a branding shoot and/or your reason why. Yes, of course there is always the typical need of updated images but that isn't always the case. You can have an event coming up and need some content to help promote, you could be celebrating a milestone in your business and want to tell the world with professional images, or you could be selling a new product and want to use imagery to assist.

Whatever your reason, it's imperative that you have a decent understanding of what you're looking to get out of your branding shoot and your overall end goal. Once you know that, everything else will fall into place.

Know your Audience

Really understanding your target audience and knowing what they like and don't like is the key to creating the best content. The goal is to attract potential clients with the overall look of your website, social media platform and marketing materials before they even meet you or hear you speak.

Understanding your audiences overall needs and what they may be looking for from you, will help you to determine what type of imagery works for what social platform. Yes. Each social platform calls for different types of content. So, determine which platform brings your the most business and work from there.

Communication

Communication is a big key factor throughout this entire process. Especially when it comes to your outfit. When preparing for a branding shoot, it's imperative for you and I to meet in person (or virtually, if you're not located in the DMV area) to dive deep into your brand and wardrobe goals. During your consult, I:

- Take your measurements to confirm your sizes

- Determine your body shape

- Get a better understanding of your brand colors and how to incorporate them into your looks

- Discuss budget

These four key components are a major part of your brand photo shoot process and should be discussed in detail. Not answering these questions fully or truthfully, may hinder your photo shoot experience.

The overall goal of your branding shoot is to present yourself in a way that promotes your brand. It allows potential clients to see what you have to offer and tells them that you are a quality enterprise. But before accomplishing that goal, it's important for you to know exactly what to bring to the table so that we (the team) can provide you with exactly what you need.
