3 Style Habits you Need to let go of in 2020

Everyone wants to have great style, but not everyone wants or knows how to put the effort in. Many of my newer clients face most of the same challenges. They hate shopping, don't like any of their clothes and they don't have the time to put together outfits, along with a bunch of other issues that they happen to face.

You want to know what I tell them?

"You're wrong and are very capable of having great style! You just need my help."

Having the style that you've always dreamed of isn't going to be easy when you're so used to having the mindset that fashion isn't your "thing". But when you take the time to change some of those habits that haven't been working for you, the process becomes a lot easier.

Trust me.

Keep reading for the 3 style habits you need to let go in order to build a functional wardrobe that you love.

1. Shopping without a plan

You ever find yourself at the mall roaming around the racks and not really finding anything you love? Do you even know what you're looking for? 9 times out of 10, you don't and that is where your problem lies. If you're always shopping without an actual plan as to what you're looking for, then you might as well not go shopping at all.

In order to successfully shop, you have to have a plan and a clear understanding of what you're shopping for. You should be planning out what specific pieces you're in need of, what particular styles best flatter your shape and what specific stores carry those styles. Each store offers different styles, brands and price points set for any budget. If you blindly go into a shopping session with no budget or no direction, that you'll just be wasting your time and your money.

2. Picking out your outfit in the morning

I have been outfit planning since grade school and it has helped to mold me into the stylist that I am today. I would simply pick out 5 different outfits for the week depending on the weather and my schedule. This saved me lots of time in the morning and prevented me from wearing the same thing everyday.

I don't know about you, but I hate waking up in the mornings. So, if I can make my morning routine a lot easier and quicker by pre-planning my outfit, then I will.

3. Not having a signature style

I too am guilty of dressing for my mood. Which means that my look was different every single day. And when I say different, I mean completely different from what I was wearing the day before. But as I got older, my style transformed into something more cohesive and practical. I personally like to be comfortable, so you'll always see me in sneakers or a shoe with a block heel. I also love tailored pieces, so a blazer/jacket or trousers are often my go-to's no matter the occasion.

Without a signature style, you're often impulse buying pieces that you don't necessarily need or you're buying distinct pieces that don't really go with anything else in your closet. and those pieces will ironically never get worn. They'll more than likely sit in the back of your closet with the tag on them until you decide to give it away. Am I right?

I'm sure most of you reading this can say that you've dealt with a lot of these same issues and are in need of some much needed guidance.
